The Great Bake Off

Week #6 of Quarantine

Our specific group of girls had a few requests and allergy restrictions (Gluten, dairy, and coconut). We managed to find a baking recipe that meets our needs and is fairly simple/contains common ingredients....Gluten-free lemon bars! We asked the girls to buy ingredients prior to the activity (if needed) and we prepared it together over zoom. Since we were not able to finish the recipe together because of the 2 hour chill time, I had the girls send me pictures of their creations. The next day I shared a handout of the recipe we used along with the pictures I received on it. They loved it! It was a very successful and well attended activity.
(Note: If you do not want to buy gluten-free flour, you can use regular flour. It will no longer be a gluten-free recipe though.)

This is the recipe we used.

Pictionary Online

Week #10 of Quarantine  The girls wanted to play generic pictionary. I would privately chat the word to the drawer, they would give me a thumbs up or down if they knew what it was, and then they would begin. We set a timer for 3 minutes for each word, but everyone seemed to guess correctly fairly quick. When we completed a round, which was when everyone had taken a turn, we would set the words to a harder level. Depending on the video chat program you use, there will be a whiteboard that you can share screen with the girls and they can draw on it. If you do not have that or can not make it work, we used regular paper and markers and it worked well for us.  This is the word generator we used: https://randomwordgenerator.com/pictionary.php
