Object Lessons to Use at Home

Week #2 of Quarantine

In our Wednesday night activity, we learned a couple object lessons. I will attach instructions for the lessons we taught, plus some additional ones. You could use any of these in a FHE or another event. Some require adult supervision and most have alternatives for teaching the same principle. Many of these I used on mission.

Holy Ghost:
(Alternative: Hide a set of scriptures in the room and chose someone to be IT. They will be blind folded and someone that will act as the holy ghost will whisper to them hot or cold as they search for the scriptures. Everyone else should be yelling and trying to distract IT. They can even try to convince them to go the wrong way but the HG must remain at a whisper.)

Faith:
(Disclaimer: As missionaries we would have people hold the tea bag in their hand because it will float before it burns to the bottom but you do not have to do that)

The Restoration:
(Disclaimer: You do not have to sing to make this lesson work, it was just the best video I found. There are several sites where you can find printables for this lesson.)

Apostasy:
(Alternatives: You can take a picture of the Savior or pass along card and rip it to pieces and build little tents with the pieces. You can smash a mirror and try to put it back together or use a puzzle with no picture and the pieces are upside down. The game telephone is also a great example of the Apostasy.)

Pictionary Online

Week #10 of Quarantine  The girls wanted to play generic pictionary. I would privately chat the word to the drawer, they would give me a thumbs up or down if they knew what it was, and then they would begin. We set a timer for 3 minutes for each word, but everyone seemed to guess correctly fairly quick. When we completed a round, which was when everyone had taken a turn, we would set the words to a harder level. Depending on the video chat program you use, there will be a whiteboard that you can share screen with the girls and they can draw on it. If you do not have that or can not make it work, we used regular paper and markers and it worked well for us.  This is the word generator we used: https://randomwordgenerator.com/pictionary.php
